Original, Contemporary Stone Sculpture - Exquisite Stones
Joanne Duby's passion for stone carving enables the ancient stones to find their own true voices. Carving for over 40 years, her focus remains on modern, abstract, and contemporary art. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Joanne's appreciation for the natural environment now manifests in the forms she creates. Currently working and teaching at Art City Studios in Ventura, California, her coastal studio setting is reflected in the themes of her artwork.

Monumentals

Joanne's dolphin fountains, whale carvings, and other fanciful creatures are featured artworks in environmental installations and institutions seeking to create playful, healing spaces. As co-founder in 1980 of T.A.S.C.O., a company that took small models and enlarged them to heroic sizes in bronze, Joanne worked with artists from all over the world - including Arnoldo Pomodoro, Richard McDonald, and Malcolm Alexander. Joanne worked with Bud Bottoms on the dolphins at Stearn’s Wharf, a familiar local landmark. Her sculpture has been shown internationally, and her work is held in collections in Europe and the Americas. She offers individual instruction and conducts carving workshops at renowned carving symposiums annually.
